Use
Indication criteria are based on the guidelines of the Association for ACI and Tissue Engineering of the German Society of Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgery:
- Defect sizes: 3.5 to 14 cm2
- Defect depth: Outerbridge / ICRS grades III and IV
- Preserved cartilage shoulder
- Healthy surrounding cartilage
- Intact corresponding joint surface (damage to max. Outerbridge grade II is allowed)
- Undamaged meniscus (partial resection to max. 1/3 of the meniscus is allowed)
- Physiological leg axis
- Intact ligament structure
- Proper patellar tracking
- Free joint mobility
- Closed epiphyses
- Biological age <55 years
- Osteochondosis dissecans
Relative contraindications
- Ligament injuries
- Meniscus injuries
- Leg axis malalignment >5°
- Patellar malalignment
Strict contraindications
- Joint stiffness
- Arthrofibrosis
- Inflammatory process
- Osteoarthritis
- Infectious diseases (HIV, hepatitis)
- Metabolic diseases (diabetes)
- Adipositas (BMI >30)
